The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at the University of Iowa seeks applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor with expertise in Pediatric Audiology and/or Amplification. More specifically, we are seeking a scholar with a strong record of research or clear evidence of the potential to develop a viable research program that addresses general issues related to amplification in clinical populations or more specifically, issues related to hearing loss in children (e.g., pediatric diagnostics, auditory development, efficacy of amplification).

The successful applicant will be expected to establish and maintain an active program of empirical research and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her area of expertise. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa is one of top ranked programs in the nation. The Audiology Clinic at the Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Center is run by clinical faculty from CSD serves both adult and pediatric clients. It offers a full range of audiology services for our clients and provides important training opportunities for our graduate students. Several other exciting and innovative programs are available to faculty from CSD that provide opportunities for interdisciplinary interaction and scholarship. These include the Development and Learning from Theory to Application (DeLTA) Center, the Center for Disabilities and Development, and the Iowa Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program. Collaboration with faculty from the College of Medicine, the College of Public Health and the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences is also possible.

Education Requirement:  Successful candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in Audiology/Hearing Science or a related field.  

Required Qualifications:  1) a strong program of research or clear evidence that applicant has the potential to develop a strong research program; 2) a record of effective teaching at the post-secondary level; and 3) evidence of leadership in university and/or professional contexts commensurate with rank.

Desired Qualifications: 1) certification/licensure in audiology; 2) an established record of external funding; 3) demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary research.
